In high-stakes decision environments, leaders cannot rely on single-source data or rapid insights alone; they require integrated evidence that delivers clarity, credibility, and confidence. This session presents a practical case study from The City of Calgary, demonstrating how diverse data sources are systematically integrated to inform governance decisions at the highest level.
Each year, Calgary’s Corporate Research Team presents the Spring and Fall Research Results directly to City Council, synthesizing insights from multiple quantitative and qualitative sources - including resident surveys, focus groups, benchmarking studies, service-level research, administrative data, and broader economic and social context. Rather than treating these inputs as parallel findings, the team applies a triangulation-led methodology to validate signals, and identify what truly matters to residents.
Using the 2025 Fall Research Results presentation as a live case example, this session will show how integrated insights inform Council’s understanding of trust in government, quality of life, value for tax dollars, service satisfaction, and shifting civic priorities. Attendees will leave with a replicable framework for integrating diverse data streams, communicating complexity with clarity, and ensuring insights directly influence strategic and governance-level decisions.
